Jeff is the founder of The Grounded Homestead and the steward behind a working homestead in Northeast Michigan. He was raised on a multi-generation organic family farm, where he spent two decades growing cash crops—hay, corn, soybeanzs, wheat, spelt, and dry beans—and raising cattle, pigs, sheep, and poultry, shaping a lifelong respect for land stewardship and honest food.
Jeff holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, and he spent 10 years serving as a public health veterinarian, bringing a rare blend of agricultural, animal health, and modern food systems expertise to his work.
Today, Jeff has returned to the land with a renewed focus on gardening, livestock management, and maple syrup production. He now runs Bons Beach Farms, producing maple syrup and seasonal fruits and vegetables using organic, regenerative principles.
Rooted in Christian faith, Jeff writes for beginners, suburban families, and anyone seeking a slower, more faithful return to food grown with intention. His work blends practical learning, lived experience, and purpose-driven living; one season at a time.
